- Die Pflicht zur Registrierung: Wir müssen uns theoretisch in jedem einzelnen EU-Land, in das wir auch nur ein einziges Paket schicken, bei den dortigen Verpackungsregistern anmelden und jährliche Lizenzgebühren zahlen.
- Die Pflicht zu lokalen Bevollmächtigten: In vielen EU-Ländern ist es für ausländische Händler inzwischen Vorschrift, einen lokalen, juristischen Vertreter vor Ort kostenpflichtig zu benennen. Die Kosten für diese Dienstleister übersteigen den Umsatz aus diesen Ländern bei weitem.
- Unterschiedliche Kennzeichnungspflichten: Jedes Land kocht sein eigenes Süppchen. Spezifische Entsorgungssymbole (wie der Triman-Anderling in Frankreich) weichen stark voneinander ab. Das ist für ein kleineres Sortiment logistisch nicht mehr abbildbar.
- Lieferadresse Deutschland: Unser Shop blockiert ab sofort Lieferadressen im EU-Ausland. Wenn Sie im Ausland wohnen, aber eine Lieferadresse oder Freunde/Familie in Deutschland haben, können Sie dort weiterhin gern hinbestellen.
- Kein Versandzwang: Laut der EU-Geoblocking-Verordnung müssen wir Kunden aus dem Ausland zwar den Zugriff auf unseren Shop und dieselben Preise erlauben – wir sind rechtlich aber nicht verpflichtet, die Ware auch über die deutsche Grenze zu transportieren.
- Wir behalten die Lage im Auge: Die EU-Kommission hat das Problem des bürokratischen Overkills für kleinere Unternehmen glücklicherweise erkannt. Sobald sich hier eine spürbare Entlastung oder eine europaweit einheitliche Regelung abzeichnet, wollen wir den EU-Versand sofort wieder aktivieren.

Why we have to suspend the dispatch of food and confectionery to other EU countries for the time being
Dear customers,
we love brightening up your day with our hand-picked treats, sweet specialities and fine foods – no matter where in Europe you live. However, the legal framework for online trade within the European Union has become drastically more stringent. It is therefore with a heavy heart that we must suspend shipments to other EU countries until further notice. Deliveries within Germany are, of course, not affected by this and will continue as usual.
In this post, we would like to explain to you transparently why bureaucracy is forcing us to take this step and what this means for you.
The bureaucratic jungle: Why EU shipping is becoming unaffordable for us
In theory, the EU stands for a single market. For specialist online shops in the food sector, however, the reality is unfortunately quite different these days. The main reason for our suspension of shipments lies in the increasingly stringent national regulations implementing the European Packaging Directives and the EU Packaging Regulation (PPWR).
Particularly in the case of food and confectionery, which often need to be packaged in multiple layers for hygiene reasons (freshness seal, transport protection, product packaging), this entails an immense bureaucratic and financial burden:
The registration requirement: In theory, we must register with the packaging registers in every single EU country to which we send even a single parcel, and pay annual licence fees.
The requirement for local authorised representatives: In many EU countries, it is now mandatory for foreign retailers to appoint a local legal representative at their own expense. The costs for these service providers far exceed the turnover generated from these countries.
Varying labelling requirements: Every country does its own thing. Specific waste disposal symbols (such as the Triman symbol in France) differ greatly from one another. Logistically, this is no longer feasible for a smaller product range.
As the volume of international parcels we handle is too low in relation to these extreme fixed costs, cross-border shipping is simply no longer economically viable.
What does this mean for you now?
Delivery address in Germany: With immediate effect, our shop will block delivery addresses in other EU countries. If you live abroad but have a delivery address or friends/family in Germany, you are still welcome to place orders for delivery there.
No obligation to ship: Under the EU Geoblocking Regulation, whilst we must allow customers from abroad to access our shop and see the same prices, we are not legally obliged to transport the goods across the German border.
We’re keeping an eye on the situation: Fortunately, the European Commission has recognised the problem of excessive red tape for smaller businesses. As soon as there are signs of a noticeable reduction in red tape or a uniform Europe-wide regulation, we intend to reactivate EU shipping immediately.

This decision was anything but easy for us to make.
We deeply regret that we are currently unable to deliver our sweet specialities directly to the doorsteps of our loyal customers outside Germany. However, as an owner-managed business, we must pool our resources and protect ourselves from warnings and penalties that threaten our very existence.
